On August 10, 2026, Colombia was struck by a 7.4 magnitude earthquake—an intensity level the country had not seen in five decades. To date, the disaster has left 331 people dead, 4,505 injured, and 111 missing, while damaging 202,002 homes, destroying 36,326, and causing the collapse of 743 buildings. The response from the current president, Abelardo de la Espriella, left much to be desired; instead of accepting international aid or providing the food and resources needed for national reconstruction and support for the population, he chose to use part of the budget destined for aid, into producing and distributing soccer balls that beared his campaign slogan to those affected. He also used this opportunity to promote Israeli influence in the country by bringing in individuals who contributed nothing to the search and recovery efforts.

It is important to highlight that the most affected areas were Indigenous and Afro-Colombian communities—groups that continue to face poverty, racism and violence to this day. Helping a country so deeply scarred by violence and divisions fueled by religious and political influences has become a necessity in these times. Proceeds from this show will go toward supporting those affected by this natural disaster. Help your fellow Latinos!
